Sluggishness in OSX 10.8 on Retina Macbook Pro

Postby fourworlds » Thu Aug 02, 2012 2:13 pm

There's significant sluggishness running Frameforge on the new Retina Macbook pro with OSX 10.8. Just pulling down menus often takes multiple attempts.

We don't have a Retina MacBook Pro here, and don't have the budget to buy one, but we haven't seen a problem running FrameForge on other machines with 10.8.

Have you checked some other programs, to make sure that it's only FrameForge that's slow?

Have you checked whether anything else is going on in the background, such as a Time Machine backup or Spotlight indexing?

You might want to toggle off the Anti-aliasing option on FrameForge's View > On-Screen Resolution submenu and see if that makes a difference. You might also want to try different settings in Apple's Displays preference panel.

I tried all those with no success. The problem with the sluggish menus persists with other programs, even after I quit. If you can't troubleshoot at this time, can I get a download link for the Windows version so I can try to run it under parallels?

But there is no sluggishness in menus of other programs before running FrameForge? I just want to make sure I understand the situation.

OK, I'm sending links by e-mail, using the e-mail address you associated with this forum account.

Thanks. The windows version seems to work fine. I just tried the newest Mac release and experienced the same problems. The interesting thing is that the severe menu sluggishness extends to other programs, even after I quit Framefoge. I had to restart the computer to resolve the problem. I'll keep trying Mac updates as they come out to see if they fix the issue.

I just posted a new Mac update. It fixes major graphics corruption (whole screen turned to hash) on Mountain Lion on some models. It might be related to the problem you're having, or it might not be.
