(re-read your post and yes, jpegs might get you a higher rez than converting. It shouldn't be too much, though. I haven't noticed as much of a downshift as with the export as .mov. I will also add a blur and some adjustments to color in the video editor.)
The scene took about a week and a half -- did it before there was tweening. Then I spent about a day adding tweening. I did this quite a while ago and I'm MUCH faster now.
I understand about the quality -- 2.5 has Quicktime, but I can see some compression going on.
OK, this will make your life SO much easier--
export as a Flash Animation.
Go to
www.download.com and download a "flash to video encoder"
Now, before you download a bunch and have to sort through the demos to find a good one that doesn't leave a watermark, I'll give ya the good one:

It's free to try.
When you convert the Flash file, choose "Raw -- uncompressed" for the best quality and some video editors won't accept certain compressed formats. You can downshift the frames-per-second so the file isn't so massive.
Now you will have high-quality video out of your flash animation.
