Need Custom characters and sets - movie in the 1880's

Postby tennessee » Thu Apr 16, 2009 9:57 am

My name is Tennessee Reid Norton and I am directing a independent stop-motion animated feature film here in Hollywood, CA.

My DP and I have test driven FrameForge 3D. We have decided to use FrameForge to previs our movie.

I have now purchased it, imported the script and begun laying out the shots using stock actors.

Now we would like to contract the creation of our 5 lead characters. We would also like to get a bid for the creation of some of our locations.

We have full turn around photos of our characters as well as close ups of the faces from 6 angles.

We are not a huge studio, but we do have some production money set aside for previs. This would be work for hire.

Please send me a private message or email me at t@trnorton.com with a ballpark of your rates. Then I can send you our info and get a bid from you.

Thank you for your time.

Props

Postby ladyjaye » Thu Apr 16, 2009 5:29 pm

Check out some of my prop packs in the FrameForge services section.

also at this link:

Although they would probably not be of use in a movie set in the 1880's, I might be interested in building some prop packs for the 1880's.

This could also include custom homes, etc...

What would you need?

Anything I build would not be work for hire, but be used in a future prop pack that could be purchased by all FrameForge users.

Thus... I would only charge the face value of the prop pack.

Custom Props and Sets

Postby tennessee » Sun Apr 19, 2009 11:42 am

I love the idea of creating new specific props and sets then making them available for everyone to purchase and use.

Your Sushi bar is so cool it inspires me to set something in a sushibar someday!

Here is a list of some of the 'period' items I am looking for:

A standing globe (like you would find in a home study)
stone harth fireplace
camel back sofa (old victorian style)

horn rimmed style eyeglasses
round eyeglasses (john lennon style)
monocle

push cart
horse drawn open wagon
horse drawn covered carriage

log raft (like Huck Finn's)
long paddles

spyglass/telescope
climbing rope (coiled and straight)
canvas backpack
pocketwatch
canteen/water bladder
hand held lantern

I know its ALOT so I look forward to hearing if you have any interest in any of them and what the cost would be.

Best,

TR

As to period costumes, we can do anything for about $300-600 per costume, depending on the complexity. Possibly less if it's close enough to something that already exists so that we can just "frankenstein" it. Such as just adding a western style vest to an existing long sleeve shirt.

SOME of what you want may be do-able with editing textures (ie. drawing the aforementioned vest right on the shirt texture rather than having it modeled as a separate removable part)

These prices are if we own the rights to it at the end, think about double if you want exclusive rights.

I know it sounds like a lot compared to Roberta's incredible work and prices, but the base rate is literally simply our cost to produce a rigged (i.e. posable) character.

Props

Postby ladyjaye » Wed Apr 29, 2009 1:27 pm

Hi... I've been busy working (real job of course)

There are some great packs in the works here!

I've already begun building these:

Log Raft Pack
log raft (like Huck Finn's)
long paddles

The Explorer Pack
A standing globe (like you would find in a home study)
plus maps, rolled and unrolled and a telescope.

As for these others things, I kinda need pictures to go on.
stone harth fireplace
camel back sofa (old victorian style)
push cart
horse drawn open wagon
horse drawn covered carriage
canvas backpack
canvas backpack

They are multiple varieties I've seen on the internet. It would be helpful if you had a specific idea in mind.

As for cost... my packs won't be anymore expensive then what you see already. I'm trying to build word of mouth right now. I'm more interested in doing a good job and having you tell other people about my stuff.

Most packs will be around $9.95 - $19.95, depending on the complexity.

If you would like to discuss things privately, e-mail below.

Your site is really hard to navigate. Nice "walk throughs" though.

I tell you what. What I would like to see is period actors, or characters, done up for FrameForge. Need to be fully articulated, large array of morphed expressions and a small set of period accurate clothes. (Pick your period). I would like to see them at a 20,000 poly count, but Innoventive would prefer something like 12,000 polys. If you can do this for less than $500 a character. You'll be in business in no time.

Indeed. And it is well worth the purchase. However, I would like to expand on it.
