Hastily Produced Animation With FF3D

Postby TheLegendaryTrilogy » Thu Jul 29, 2004 10:05 am

I'm planning on PreVisualing my upcoming feature. This was a test to see what I could do.

I did it in a hurry, but it's relatively entertaining.

Let me try that again, the file was too big before.

The scene is set in Texas in Jeff's house. Jeff is wearing the cowboy hat and he is our hero.

I attached it, but apparently you can't download it. A little help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I do think you've hit on a new music video style. I'll call it "Coarse Cuts". Nicely done. Hits the, well, hit points.

The video doesn't have "high power" movement - it's the music that carries the beat. And the screen shots are tempo'd like a kick drum.

I love the fades between shots. Exactly what I'm doing for children's stories (except the subject matter is not quite so dramatic). Works really well to create the effect of motion, doesn't it?

Show us more when you can!

Agreed, perhaps this style would make for an interesting music video.

So you are actually using the storyboards themselves to tell the stories with no plan of creating a live action version later? That's a good idea.

Yes it's quite similar to stop-motion animation, I was in a hurry therefore didn't make enough frames, but one could make actual motion at 24fps or 30fps. Just takes time and effort.

Glad you liked it. I'm getting better with the software, when I have something else worth seeing I'll post it for everyone.

I like yer web site. That's no little site.
Daggum, I haven't seen them wind-ups in years!

Good trailer. You does know how t'edit on the beats.
My only question, "Why on earth shoot in TX when you can shoot incredible backdrops in Montana?"

"BTW, I don't suppose you know any wealthy folks that'd like to invest in a motion picture? ;) "

Greg Pak is from the Austin area, I believe. He's in NYC now, as I understand it. www.gregpak.com - read his thinking on the financing matter, look closely how he made and is distributing his own full-length movie. I tend to agree with Greg on just about everything he's written over the past 3 years, even though he and I have never met nor directly conversed in any fashion. Robert R got stupendous financing, but only after making over 200 movies and having the actual film in the can to sell plus having one amazing connection to Hollywood through the Texas Film Commission. If you are willing to let go of your baby, and the story is compelling, a RR *might* consider buying it. But if you want to do it yourself, you are going to have to go the route the rest of us do - self-finance with a few trusting friends.

Check www.indieclub.com www.cinefuse.com www.sophocles.net www.ifp.org www.coldchair.com (these guys did it starting from access cable) just as places to read what others like you and me struggle with. That will become your struggle too.

Hang in and keep the faith. You got skills, my man.

I didn't know about Greg Pak. I'm glad you told me. There are a lot of good filmmakers from Austin.

Do you have a site?
