Elevation of Free Floating Lights

Postby Lee » Fri Nov 12, 2010 12:13 pm

Hi

When I drag a Free Floating Spot Light into a Blue Print iew it always seems to be at elevation 133 ft. That's a bit high ... and I find it very hard to adjust. Clicking on the On-Set elevation control ( from the red icons surrounding a selected oject in the Live View) and getting the numerical input won't let me adjust ... the main object Elevation on the left of the FF screen works, but it's hard to guess where the light is...

Perhaps a default height of 8 ft might be more manageable?

The Free Floating Omni Directional Light comes in at elevation 6 inches .. which is also strange ... but at least it's easily visible!

FF 3D Pro, V 3.2.3.1 on Mac OS 10.6.4 BTW ...

Let me know if I'm missing anything here..

Thanks

This is strange, and I don't know how it happened, but I think I know how to fix it. Select a Free Floating Spot Light, then go up to the menu bar and select Poses > Delete Pose > <base pose>. From then on, when you drop in a Free Floating Spot Light, it should come in at ground level.

By the way, you have the option of adjusting the elevation of free floating lights as ordinary objects rather than lights. One way to do this is to hold down the option key, which changes the special lighting control balls to generic object control balls. The other way is to use the elevate throttle, or the numeric (#) button next to it.
