Export Crash when exporting storyboard

Postby jongwyther » Fri Jun 08, 2012 7:16 am

Hi I'm new to this, but am having an issue when exporting. I have the later software running on two computers, macbook pro and iMac. When I attempt to export using {export storyboard / shortlist} the programme crashes. This happens on both computers. Has anybody else come across this issue.

Are you up to date with the current version, 3.3.9 at the moment? If not, use Help > Check for Program Updates.

If you are on the latest version, I'd like to see a crash log (a file with technical details about the crash written by your Mac every time a program crashes). Depending on the version of the Mac OS, it may be in ~/LIbrary/Logs/CrashReporter or ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports. To find these folders, you can use the Finder's Go > Go to Folder... menu command, and paste in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports or ~/LIbrary/Logs/CrashReporter. The file name will include FrameForge and the date of the crash. Please send it to me as an attachment to an e-mail or private forum message.

Oops, I guess you can't send an attachment on a private message, and you're probably not seeing an e-mail icon for me, so here's my e-mail address: jamesw@frameforge3d.com.

I just tried to find the crash report and failed.

I found the folders and went through the process of making the programme crash but no report turned up in the logs.

Really starting to wonder wants going on.

Any ideas what to do next.

Thanks J

Here's another way to get the report. When there is a crash, you should see a dialog like this:

crash-dialog.png
first crash dialog
crash-dialog.png (28.33 KiB) Viewed 391 times

Click the Report... button. That should produce another dialog:

problem-report.png
second dialog
problem-report.png (38.36 KiB) Viewed 391 times

Click the Show Details button. That will reveal a big text field containing the crash report. You can then select it all, copy it to the clipboard, click Don't Send, and paste the report into an e-mail.

Right things are just getting crazy here.

No of this happens when the programme crashes.

It simple crash as soon as I hit the export button. No dialogue boxes show up at all.

When I re-launch the programme it just says FF crashed we suggest save the restored as a copy.

This is dull.

What version of the Mac OS are you running?

Do you have the latest FrameForge? I asked before, and you didn't really answer.

I have another way to look for some information. Go to your Utilities folder and open the Console app. If it doesn't say "All Messages" at the top of the window, click "Show Log List" on the tool bar and then select "All Messages" from the list on the left. Then click "Clear Display" on the tool bar. Then, leaving the console open, go make FrameForge crash. Then go back to the console window, copy our whatever text has appeared, and send it to me.
