Light effects

For night scenes where lighting is part of the story, how do express it? For example, car headlights, lamp light, a patch of light highlighting an object on a dark set, etc.

Other people have successfully used a cone, made it partially transparent in the green room and then stretched it as appropriate.

Lighting a window

Postby xackery12 » Fri Dec 08, 2006 7:52 am

Very helpful. What about indicating light coming from a window at night?

Thanks

You should probably use a rectangle the shape of the window and then angle it from the window to the ground.

lighting effects

Postby prashant » Fri Jan 12, 2007 1:32 pm

hi
instead of using cones (which is quite a laboroius work and doesnt give the desired effect. my apologies to those who belong to the cone club), i suggest use PHOTOSHOP 7.0 - go to FILTERS - go to RENDER - then select LENS FLARES to give the impression of headlights or a flashlight. or LIGHTING EFFECTS to select a myriad of lights - SPOTLIGHTS, OMNI, DIRECTIONAL. you can also use the above lights in multiple combination - one for ambience , say a blue moonlight and a tungsten spotlight. do whatever.
if i have your e mail i can send some frames which i made for my film. unfortunately, it takes long to load here in the forum.
cheers

I don't understand how you go about making an object transparent in the green room?

  1. Click the Colors/Textures/State tab
  2. Select a part from the Part Name pop-up menu
  3. Change the pop-up menu next to the color from Shininess to Opacity
  4. Move the opacity slider to the left
